The "Lake"

The annual trip to "the lake" in Oxford, Wisconsin was this past weekend. While the happenings at the lake have changed a bit over the years we always try to take up the offer to come play outside at my aunt and uncle's lake. My brother, sister-in-law, and niece also came for the adventure. The overnight trip was worth the traffic we experienced in both directions. This year Ethan and Evelyn were both walking (and running)! It was so fun to watch the two of them make each other laugh. Evelyn is 7 months older which shows in her extensive vocabulary. Ethan imitated EV, followed her around, tried to eat her food, and laughed a lot! It was great to catch up with the rest of the family as well. The only setback to the weekend was Ethan's reaction to the dogs. The hives that appeared whenever he was licked by the dogs cleared up quickly with benadryl and avoiding being licked. Come to find out the dogs eat peanut butter! The verdict is still out on whether Ethan has an allergy to dog saliva or just a confirmation of PB. We went to Castle Rock Lake to use the boat and tube. Toddler tubing is quite different! Ethan didn't care for it much but probably bc the water was cold. He went out with daddy for about 5 mins. Evelyn on the other hand, LOVED it and wanted to jump off the tube into the water. She was splashing around and sticking her hands in to drink the lake water! Then Owen took his turn being whipped around on the tube.

Ethan made everyone laugh and was totally oblivious to it all when he had a blow out through his swim diaper and down the leg.... Those swim diapers are worthless! It was one of those where you can't get the smell out of your nose...and it didn't help that he exploded on my brother's lap! We decided to keep the kids up as late as they could possibly stand on Saturday night. Ethan was walking like a zombie but was pleasant because Evelyn was there to entertain him. By 11:30 we were off to the Pioneer Motor Inn, and the rest of the crew went to their tent or bed. Ethan was dead to the world and didn't even wake up during the transfer from the car to the pack n' play.
Needless to say he slept the whole ride home the following day, and still has been napping well. :)
Thank you Jim and Vicky for hosting us at your lake house!
