Personality. Fake crying. Pointing as a means to communicate. Differences in parenting styles. Separation anxiety. NO, Ethan. Play with these toys, Ethan. That cabinet is off limits. What am I going to feed you, today? Drink? Snack? Diaper change? Don't push that button! Water. Let's go on a little trip to the store! Oh, baby, what's wrong? You can snuggle with me all day if you want! HA HA, that's funny! You're funny! I'm going yo get you...! You are so cute. BIG SMILES! These are a few random thoughts and phrases about Ethan these days.
The visit to the pediatrician revealed Ethan is 24 lbs even and 31 1/4 inches, making him 80% for weight and 90% for height. He continues to meet milestones. The doc prescribed an Epi Pen Jr just in case we run into problems with his food allergies. Hopefully we'll never have to use it but it's reassuring to have since it could potentially save Ethan's life. It comes with a practice pen so believe me- if you are ever caring for Ethan- you will be inserviced complete with repeat demonstration!
Things that make E happy these days-opening and closing doors, lids, toys. Picking things (toys, papers, ect) up and handing them to us like its a really important object that we must have! Chasing and petting the cat-this activity must be supervised as he doesn't have the whole concept of gentle down yet. LOVES taking everything out of purses, bags, wallets, hence leaving little messes ALL over the house. He plays with his toys and pushes the buttons but gets easily distracted by what mom or dad is doing. Gotta love the 30 second attention span of a toddler. I wonder what the world would be like if adults where watched as closely as toddlers are. Ethan's most mischievous pleasure is getting into the Desitin (diaper rash cream). Why you'd eat this stuff I have NO IDEA -it's nasty. Poison control has reassured us that the worst that could happen is "the runs".
He is quite the social dude! When he sees kids at the store he smiles and reaches out towards them. He had a blast playing with his second cousin, Addy, in Iowa. She would throw a water bottle and Ethan would play fetch. It was cute! Then, every time he saw Addy he would light up and want out of our arms to play! It's time for MORE play dates!
Ethan continues to furniture surf and is getting closer to taking steps everyday. He will let go of his stabilizing piece of choice and stand alone for seconds before dropping down, but those seconds are getting longer and longer. He frequently makes trips up the stairs, and while he knows how to go down he prefers to reach out, grab your neck, and be carried down. How can you say no with this heart-warming gesture?!
